What it is

A community space, not a bar and not a coworking office.

Tokaj Grove gives adults a practical place to spend social time in central Auckland. The shared tables support conversation, board games, cards, chess, sketching and other low-key activities.

You decide how structured the visit should be. Drop in during opening hours for an ordinary visit, or choose a programme with a fixed weekly time or an activity arranged by prior request.

Arriving solo

Choose an easy shared activity or ask which programme is a good fit that day.

Coming on your own is a normal way to visit.

You do not need to bring a ready-made group. Board game nights, language exchange, coffee and conversation, social poker and several other formats are designed so that an individual visitor can join the room.

For a casual visit, begin with a game, a sketchbook, a hot drink or conversation. For organised activities, the programme page makes the registration status clear before you send an enquiry.

Two ways to use the space

Keep it casual or follow the programme.

Both visit styles use the same time-based pricing. The difference is whether the activity has a set format and joining instructions.

Casual visit

Choose from what is available in the shared space.

  • Board games, chess and checkers
  • Social card games and puzzles
  • Sketching and simple creative activities
  • Coffee, tea, water and light snacks

Organised programme

Join a recurring time or make a prior request.

  • Weekly games, music and conversation
  • Creative classes and workshops
  • Social poker on four fixed weekly evenings
  • Request-based group activities

Pricing

Pay for the time you spend here.

A regular visit costs NZ$7.50 for the first 60 minutes, then NZ$0.10 for each additional minute.

The charge covers your time in the community space, including everyday activities, coffee, tea, drinking water, light snacks and included programmes.
